MyWebNotes

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 14, 2026

MyWebNotes ("the Extension", "we", "us") is a Chrome extension developed by bereto that lets users pin notes to elements on any webpage. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension handles and how.

1. Information We Collect

Notes content. When you create a note, the Extension stores the note text, the tags you add, the URL and domain of the page, a small screenshot of the surrounding area, and timestamps. This data is created entirely by you and stays on your device.

Google Account information (optional). If you choose to sign in with Google, the Extension requests your email address and profile picture solely to display which account is connected. We do not access your name, contacts, or any other Google account data.

Google Drive data (optional). If you sign in with Google, your notes are synced to a hidden application-specific folder ("App Data folder") in your own Google Drive, using the drive.appdata scope. This folder is private to the Extension — it does not appear in your regular Google Drive, and the Extension cannot access any other files in your Drive.

2. How We Use This Information

  • Notes are stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage APIs so you can view, edit, and delete them from the extension's manager page.
  • If you sign in with Google, notes are additionally synced to your own Google Drive App Data folder so you can access the same notes across multiple devices signed into the same Google account.
  • Your email and profile picture are used only to show your signed-in status inside the extension's interface.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party. We do not operate any server that receives or stores your notes or account information. All data either stays on your device (via Chrome's local storage) or is sent directly, from your browser, to your own Google Drive account using Google's official APIs. bereto has no access to your notes, your Google account, or your Drive contents at any point.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Notes stored locally remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the Extension.
  • Notes synced to Google Drive remain in your App Data folder until you delete them from within the Extension or revoke the Extension's access to your Google account (which also deletes the synced file, per Google's App Data folder rules).
  • You can sign out of your Google account at any time from the extension's manager page; this stops syncing and removes cached account information from your device.

5. Permissions Used

  • storage / unlimitedStorage: to save your notes locally on your device.
  • activeTab / scripting / tabs: to let you click on page elements and open the notes manager.
  • contextMenus: to add right-click menu shortcuts for creating notes.
  • identity: to let you sign in with your Google account.
  • alarms: to periodically sync notes with Google Drive in the background.
  • host permissions (all sites): needed so you can pin a note to any element on any website you visit.

6. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the MyWebNotes Chrome extension ("the Extension"). By installing or using the Extension, you agree to these Terms.

1. Description of Service

MyWebNotes is a browser extension that allows you to attach notes to elements on webpages you visit. Notes are stored locally on your device, and — if you choose to sign in with Google — optionally synced to your own Google Drive account so you can access them across multiple devices.

2. Your Content

You retain full ownership of any notes, text, or other content you create using the Extension ("Your Content"). We claim no rights over Your Content. You are solely responsible for Your Content and for complying with any applicable laws when using the Extension, including respecting the intellectual property and privacy rights of others.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Extension to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation;
  • Infringe on the rights of any third party;
  • Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Extension, Google's services, or any website you visit through improper means.

4. Google Account and Third-Party Services

If you choose to sign in with Google, your use of Google's services is also governed by Google's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the availability, performance, or policies of Google's services.

5. No Warranty

The Extension is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Extension will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that your data will never be lost.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, bereto shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the Extension.

7. Changes to the Extension or Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Extension, in whole or in part, at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it. We reserve the right to suspend or restrict access to features of the Extension (such as Google sync) at our discretion.
