Simple theme v6: header search, a button link parameter, and organization schema

Version 6 is a practical update. Your existing pages stay as they are. Search, the button field, and organization schema only change something when you turn them on or fill them in.

Search in the header. On desktop, a magnifying glass sits between the menu and the call-to-action button. Click it and HubSpot site search opens over the menu. On mobile, the search field is already open in the menu, between the button and the links. It is the same search in both places. You can turn it off, or hide suggestions while keeping search, under Theme Settings → Website header → Search.

Where the hamburger starts. Theme Settings → Website header → Mobile view → Menu breakpoint decides the width. The default is 767px. At that width and below, visitors get the hamburger. Above it, they get the desktop menu. If the nav feels tight on a tablet, raise the number. This does not change the Design Manager preview breakpoint.

The menu works from the keyboard. The hamburger opens and closes without a mouse. Tab stays inside the open panel, and Escape or the X brings focus back to the hamburger. On desktop, Tab on a menu item that has children opens the same dropdown as hover. Escape closes it and leaves focus on that item. Skip to content moves focus to the main content, not only the scroll. In the FAQ accordion, each question is a button: Enter or Space opens it, and hover or focus highlights the whole card.

A link parameter on buttons. In the Buttons module, each button has a Link parameter field. Leave it empty and the link does not change. Fill it in to add something to the URL. #pricing jumps to a section. ?utm_source=newsletter adds a query. An example sits under the field. Email, phone, and call-to-action links are called out in the tooltip and are not changed by this field. For now, only the Buttons module has it.

Organization schema. Open the global header and find Organization schema. You edit it once for the whole site, not on each page, and not in Theme Settings. It stays off until you turn it on and add a name. Pick the organization type from the list. The default is Organization. Every page can then include that organization. The homepage also includes the website, and site search is included only when header search is on. Social profiles are a list of URLs. Address, phone, and opening hours show up only for local-business types. Empty fields are left out. Hiding the header in Page Settings does not remove the schema. The FAQ schema on the accordion is separate and unchanged.

Update the theme, then check Show search. If the menu feels crowded on tablet, raise the menu breakpoint. Turn on organization schema from the header when you want it.

Download the update, and if something looks off, report the bug. Feedback is welcome too.
